History Of KCOCA Presidents
The Foundation of the King's College Old Collegians Association
On August 4, 1900 a rugby game took place between the King's College 1st XV and a team of Old Boys. At the suggestion of the Headmaster, Mr Graham Bruce, a decision was made to form an Old Boys' Association. Commendably, this decision was translated within a month and thus the King's College Old Boys' Association was founded.
In 1980 the admission of girls' to the College required a change of name for the Association and so it became the King's College Old Collegians' Association.
Objectives of the Association(1900)
To promote good fellowship among the old boys of King's College, St Johns' Collegiate School and the Parnell Grammar School, and to maintain their interest in the school. To promote the interests of King's College and the Association.
Since its formation in 1900, the Association has been well-served by a range of elected Presidents supported by dedicated Executive Committees. The commitment of these people, often in challenging times either for the nation or the College, has played a significant role in supporting the College, its traditions and the educational ideals for which it stands. The fundamental objective of the Association, to support the continued fellowship among members and the best interests of the College, has been led by these Presidents.
